The 23rd Annual Report on the Conditions of Children in Orange County studies four interdependent focus areas: Good Health, Economic Well-Being, Educational Achievement and Safe Homes and Communities. Each focus area includes the most recent data for indicators to assess improving or worsening trends over 10 years.
Orange County Children's Partnerships is a unified voice that champions health, education, safety and economic stability by advancing more responsive services that effectively meet the needs of children and families in Orange County communities.
The Orange County Children's Partnership is a 22-member advisory body made up of public and community agencies. It was established by the Board of Supervisors in 1982 to improve the condition of Orange County's children, address community needs, and ensure the greatest return on investment of government funds.
In 2016, the Partnership undertook a strategic planning effort to ensure its work is both meaningful and impactful. The Partnership committed to using its collective abilities to strengthen, expand and enhance existing initiatives that are focused on improving outcomes for children and families. Specifically, the Partnership is working to address the following priority areas or initiatives:
Mental Health Advocacy for Adolescents
Continuum of Care Reform (Assembly Bill 403)
Commercially Sexually Exploited Children
Child Abuse/Neglect – WE CAN Coalition
Early Childhood Development
The responsibilities of the Partnership include providing a forum for departments and agencies to disseminate and discuss operational and program problems and issues concerning the Juvenile Justice and Dependency systems and seriously emotionally and/or behaviorally disturbed children; identifying gaps in the service system for high-risk children and their families; and recommending collaborative programs to better serve all Orange County’s children. Since August 1993, the OCCP has sponsored the Annual Report on the Conditions of Children in Orange County.
Making Orange County a safe, healthy, and fulfilling place to live, work, and play, today and for generations to come, by providing outstanding, cost-effective regional public services.
