- Family must be residents of Orange County
- Applicant(s) must be at least 18 years of age or older (single, two-parent, or same gender families of all ethnicities and income levels with or without children).
- Family must complete application packet after attending Foster care Orientation.
- All adults 18 years and older must be fingerprinted and TB tested.
- All caretakers must attend the PRIDE Training Program.
- There must be adequate bedroom space to accommodate all family members, including foster children.
- Family must have adequate income to cover their family's needs.
- Smoke alarms must be installed and in good working order.
- All weapons must be in a locked secured place.
- If any adult who lives in the home has a criminal record, it may prevent the family from being licensed. If that person is on probation or parole, however, the family cannot be licensed.
- Spanking and other kinds of corporal punishment of foster children are not allowed.
- The home must have a working telephone.
- Home and outdoor activity space must be safe and in good repair.
- All licensed adults in the family must be trained in First Aid & CPR.
- Medications and poisons must be locked up
